Benjamin Guthrie is a Canadian ice skater from the Holiday on Ice show Supernova.
Biography[]
Raised in a small town of Northern Ontario, Canada, Ben began skating at the age of three. His parents, hoping he would at least learn to skate alongside his older brother, didn’t realize what they had started – falling in love with figure skating, he has now been skating for over 26 years!
Involved with other sports like cross-country skiing and running, Ben decided early-on to making skating his primary focus. In order to take his skating to the next level and train year-round, at 15 years old, Ben left his hometown to move to the city of Ottawa (Canada's capital). With a long competitive career, including six years at senior level, Ben retired in 2016 as the Ontario Super Series Champion with all-time personal bests. During his time as a competitive skater, he also attended the University of Ottawa as a part-time student, graduating in 2016 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Since 2016, he has worked as a general manager for the Gloucester Skating Club, as a coach on and off the ice, and as a performer for Disney On Ice. When not on the ice, he can be found at competitions volunteering his time on the judges’ stands as a Skate Canada Technical Specialist. Ben's passion is skating, and he is thrilled to be returning to the world of performing! Skating in SUPERNOVA will be Ben’s first experience with Holiday on Ice, and he is very excited to be a part of this spectacular new production! [1]
